The Institute of Urban and Sustainable Development of the City University of Macau (hereinafter referred to as “the Institute”) was officially inaugurated on March 28, 2025, the 44th anniversary of the City University of Macau. Based on urban science and the core concept of sustainable development, the Institute is committed to solving complex urban problems through multidisciplinary cross-fusion and integrated and innovative approaches, with a foothold in the Bay Area and an outlook on the world.
Currently, the Institute consists of Master and PhD programs in Urban Planning and Design, and in the next 3-5 years, it will build up the four directions of Urban Development and Renewal, Urban Governance, Urban Intelligent Applications, and Urban Sustainability, Master and PhD programs in Urban Planning and Design, Master and PhD programs in Urban Management and Public Policy, Bachelor, Master and PhD programs in Urban Informatics, as well as the Bachelor, Master and PhD programs in Urban Resilience and Sustainable Development, and the Bachelor, Master and PhD programs in Urban Informatics, and the Bachelor, Master and PhD programs in Urban Resilience and Sustainable Development. The Institute is a highly integrated and innovative research institute (school) that combines engineering, social sciences, and science in eight programs, including a master's degree program in Urban Resilience and Sustainability, a master's degree program in Urban Management and Public Policy, a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and a doctoral degree program in Urban Informatics, and a master's degree program in Urban Resilience and Sustainability.
In the future, the Institute will have more than 1,000 enrolled students, 30-40 full-time faculty members, and a number of renowned scholars from home and abroad as Distinguished Professors and External Dissertation Supervisors to assist in teaching, supervising students, and conducting scientific research. The Institute is willing to cooperate with world-renowned scholars and academic institutions to explore and contribute to the sustainable development of cities through joint teaching, research and practice activities
